Notice your excuses and let them go.
Do a timed, four- minute brainstorm of all the reasons, rationalizations, justifications, and excuses you have used to avoid studying. Be creative. List your thoughts in the following space and continue them on a separate sheet if needed:
1. It wouldn't hurt if I miss tonight to studying.
2. I'll just do it tomorrow.
3. I'm too tired to study.
4. I'll study this weekend.
Now write a Discovery Statement about the list you just created.
I discovered that I..
1. That I like to wait until the last minute to do things.
2. Put things off and never really get back to it.
3. If I want get a good grade on my test I need to study.
4. At time I'm just so lazy when it come down to me studying.
Next, review your list, pick the excuse that you use the most, and circle it. In the following space, write an intention Statement about what you will do to begin eliminating your favorite excuse. Make this intention Statement one that you can keep with a timeline and a reward.
1. It wouldn't hurt if I miss tonight of studying.
I intend to...
Study the same night I've received my assignment are giving to me. and at the end of it all my reward would be a better grade.
